A day in the life of Glennys Logan

1. How long have you been a celebrant for?

11 years

2. Why did you become a celebrant?

Two of my best friends had completed the ceremony and ritual weekend course with Mary Hannock and mentioned it to me saying I had to do it as they both felt I was born to be a wedding celebrant as I have always been addicted to love!

3. What involvement do you have or had with CANZ at a branch or national level?

I am a member of CANZ and value the fantastic communication and on-line support.  Due to my location in Cromwell along with other work commitments it is however difficult to be actively involved.

4. What ceremonies do you perform?

Marriages, vow renewals, wedding blessing ceremonies, baby naming and funerals.

5. What do you enjoy about being a celebrant?

I mainly perform marriages which is great as I am really addicted to love!  My friends all call me the ‘Love Goddess’.  I just love getting my couples married and being surrounded by so much incredible energy.

6. What are some of the hardest parts of being a celebrant?

During Covid when there were no weddings I became a part owner in a new funeral business and I can honestly say it was one of the most challenging times in my life being surrounded by death on a daily basis.  I found it incredibly difficult not to take on others grief.

7. What was the most memorable ceremony you have performed?

I performed a pagan wedding in Queenstown and the energy from that ceremony has stayed with me over the years.  The rituals involved were so amazing and at one point we had a native Karearea falcon fly over us!  It sent shivers all over me!

8. What would be your typical day as celebrant?

If I don’t have a wedding my day starts at 5am when I get up and head off to the gym.

Morning coffee at a local café sees me staying connected with the locals.

My afternoons will be spent on emails and creating ceremonies.

Wedding days see me reading a couples ceremony out loud 2-3 times in the mornings, choosing my outfit to compliment the wedding party, making sure I have plenty of fuel in my car and my sound system is charged!

Then off I go to Queenstown/Wanaka or the Heli Base for my couples beautiful day!

9. What advice do you have for someone new to the industry?

Training is essential and becoming a member of CANZ to keep up with news and legislation is vital.

10. How do you like to relax?

I love the gym, biking (on my ebike of course!), reading, walking in the hills with my husband, and getting out with my friends for a fantastic coffee!
